Marcia Dima Jone, from Mozambique, nurtured grand aspirations from a young age, yearning to make a significant impact on society, especially concerning environmental awareness. Witnessing positive changes in people’s attitudes towards the environment drove her passion further, aligning perfectly with the UN’s global objective of addressing climate change.

In 2015, Dima Jone took a crucial step towards active public engagement in environmental issues by founding N’toko Organic Lda, a startup focused on waste collection and recovery. Through this initiative, she aimed to promote environmental sustainability by ensuring proper disposal of solid waste to prevent contamination.

As the company progressed, its focus shifted towards composting for organic fertilizer production, advocating for sustainable cultivation practices among gardeners and farmers. This shift aimed to reduce the use of harmful pesticides, as their detrimental effects on soil, water, and biodiversity became increasingly evident.

Addressing harmful agricultural practices was a driving force behind establishing N’toko Organic Lda. Dima Jone sought to tackle issues like excessive chemical fertilizer and pesticide use, which lead to soil degradation, erosion, and groundwater pollution.

Dima Jone believes that N’toko Organic Lda stands out due to its distinctive values and bio-fertilizer production. Moreover, the company has contributed significantly to job creation for the local youth, further strengthening her resolve to expand its reach and influence.

Despite receiving accolades and recognition for her efforts, Dima Jone did not rest on her laurels. She founded EcoMissava as a social responsibility project to raise public awareness about environmental degradation and the urgent need for collective action. This endeavour involves collaborating with other organizations, including private entities, educational institutions, and NGOs.

As an environmental sustainability advocate, Dima Jone encourages more young women to partake in projects aimed at combating pollution. She believes that women can lead such initiatives and should not shy away from taking risks or initiating projects. Starting small and steadily building towards a larger vision can pave the way for significant change.

Marcia Dima Jone’s dedication to promoting environmental awareness and her unwavering commitment to positive change serves as an inspiration to others, sparking hope for a greener, more sustainable future.
